Coupes

Great Escape Classic Car Hire Jenson Interceptor Mk3 two door automatic coupe for rental in the Cotswolds Great Escape Classic Car Hire Jensen Interceptor Mk3 two door automatic coupe with blue paintwork and cream leather interior for rental in the UK Cotswolds

Coupes are two door fixed roof classic cars.  We have a choice of two Jensen Interceptors coupes available in different colour schemes.  The Jensen is a large grand tourer style coupe - about the size of a Ford Mondeo - and was made between 1966 and 1976, 10 years during which it became the celebrity car of its era competing with Aston Martin cars and Rolls Royce cars.  Both cars have automatic gearboxes, two doors and four seats.  Both cars are fitted with a large but docile 7.2 litre Chrysler V8 engine.

Our first Jensen Interceptor LPB63N has mid-blue metallic paintwork with a burgundy leather interior.  It is fitted with rear seatbelts.

Our second Jensen Interceptor PAX433M is dark metallic blue with a cream leather interior.  It is not fitted with rear seatbelts.

Convertibles

Great Escape Classic Car Hire Alfa Romeo 2 seater 2 door convertible with manual gearbox Jaguar E Type V12 Series 3 roadster with two doors and two seats and manual gearbox is available for classic car hire from Great Escape in the Cotswolds Great Escape Classic Car Hire Jaguar XJ-S V12 automatic gearbox convertible with 2 doors and 4 seats for rental in the UK Cotswolds

We have a choice of three very different classic convertible cars for rental from our base near the Cotswolds and they span three decades - 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. Our two Jaguar V12 convertibles - Jaguar E Type Series 3 V12 roadster and Jaguar XJS V12 convertible - are available alongside our beautiful Alfa Romeo Spider.  These cars give you a choice of high performance classic car (Jaguar E Type), smooth grand tourer (Jaguar XJS) or open top sports car (Alfa Romeo Spider).

The two-door 2 seater Jaguar EType is regularly voted one of the most beautiful cars in the world.  The Great Escape vehicle is a 1973 car fitted with the Jaguar V12 engine - one of the best engines ever made - and finished in Old English White with a black leather interior, a classic colour combination.  It is fitted with a four speed manual gearbox and has two seats.  The Series 3 Jaguar EType uses an extended wheelbase which means extra space for driver and passenger.  The car also features a luggage carrying rack for extra storage.

The Jaguar XJS replaced the Jaguar EType in the 1970s and was designed as a large grand touring car to compete with cars like the Jensen Interceptor.  It also features the Jaguar 5.3 litre V12 engine but is a very different proposition from the Jaguar EType.  The two-door Jaguar XJ-S is much more modern and refined and generally easier to drive.  Ours is a full convertible XJ-S fitted with a power operated roof, automatic gearbox and rear seats, including seat belts, and a large boot. The rear seats are suitable for children. The car features mid-blue metallic paintwork with blue leather interior.

Our Alfa Romeo Spider is the classic Italian sports car made famous by Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate.  It is a two door two seater convertible with a 5 speed manual gearbox and combines metallic burgundy paintwork with a tan interior.  The Alfa Romeo uses the company's classic twin cam two litre engine and has a medium sized boot with additional storage capacity behind the seats.  The full convertible roof is manually operated.

Saloons

Great Escape Classic Car Hire Jaguar XJ6 long wheelbase saloon with four doors four seats and an automatic gearbox Great Escape Classic Car Hire 1957 Morris Minor Traveller 1000 for rental in the UK Cotswolds

1965 Jaguar Mk2 3.8 litre saloon with four doors and four seats and manual gearbox for rental in the Cotswolds from Great Escape Classic Car Hire

Great Escape Classic Car Hire has a choice of three quite different saloons from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.  They include a 1957 Morris Minor Traveller, 1965 Jaguar Mk2 3.8 and 1974 Jaguar XJ6 4.2 litre long wheelbase saloon.  These cars are ideal for weddings or for a weekend away with friends - or for couples who just want some extra space.

The Morris Minor Traveller is fitted with the standard 1000cc engine and four speed gearbox and is remarkably easy to drive for a 50 year old vintage vehicle.  The car has two doors and four seats but is not fitted with seatbelts (this is legal as they were not fitted when new).  The Morris is spacious, suitable for four adults and has a large boot.  The Morris features Dark Morris Green paintwork and olive leather interior.

The 1965 Jaguar Mk2 is instantly recognisable and was made famous in The Sweeney and was the car driven by Inspector Morse.  It is a medium-sized four door saloon car with a manual gearbox and front seatbelts.  It also has a large boot.  It is also fitted with power steering and uses the classic 3.8 liltre straight six engine.  The car features a combination of petrol blue paintwork with caramel leather interior.

Our 1974 Jaguar XJ6 is regularly acknowledged as one of the most beautiful saloon cars ever made.  This large car is a Series 2 built on the long wheelbase Jaguar XJ6 chassis, which gives an extra four inches of rear legroom. The Great Escape Classic Car Hire Jaguar XJ6 saloon is fitted with an automatic gearbox and has front seatbelts.  It combines Sable paintwork (a sort of creamy mocha colour) with a green leather interior and uses the 4.2 litre Jaguar straight six engine.  It has four doors and a large boot.

Gearboxes

Our classic cars are available with a choice of automatic or manual gearboxes to suit your driving style.

Our five cars fitted with automatic gearboxes are the Jensen Interceptor cars, Jaguar XJ-S V12 convertible and Jaguar XJ6 saloon.

We have four cars fitted with manual gearboxes including the Jaguar E Type (4 speed), Jaguar Mk2 (4 speed), Alfa Romeo Spider (5 speed) and Morris Minor Traveller (4 speed).

Power Steering

With the exception of the Morris Minor Traveller - which is a light car with easy steering - all of our cars are fitted with power steering.  Power steering was either available as standard when the car was new or we have fitted it in order to help you get more enjoyment from driving the car.

Number of seats

Our classic cars have a choice of two or four seats suitable for 2 people, 2 people plus children or four adults.

The Great Escape vintage vehicles that are suitable for two people are our Alfa Romeo Spider and Jaguar E Type, which both have only two seats and two doors.  The Alfa Romeo has a medium sized boot with rear seat stowage area and the Jaguar E Type has a small boot, luggage rack and rear seat stowage area.

Our Jaguar XJ-S has a small rear seat that is only suitable for children so the car will take a family of up to four.  It is fitted with rear seatbelts and has a large boot.

Our two Jensen Interceptors have four seats.  The rear seats will accommodate adults or children but we do not recommend adults travelling in the back for long distances due to the lack of legroom.  One of our Jensens is fitted with rear seatbelts.  Both cars have large boots.

Our Morris Minor Traveller, Jaguar Mk2 and Jaguar XJ6 are suitable for four adults.  The two Jaguars can accommodate up to five adults.  The Morris has two doors and the Jaguars have four doors.  These cars do not have rear seatbelts.

Seatbelts

Our cars are fitted with seatbelts with the exception of our Morris Minor Traveller.  Seatbelts were not requires on this car when it was built.  Our Jaguar Mk2 and Jaguar XJ6 saloons do not have rear seatbelts.

One of our Jensen Interceptors has rear seatbelts.

Number of doors

We have a choice of two and four door classic cars.  Our two door cars are our Alfa Romeo Spider, Morris Minor Traveller, Jaguar E Type, Jaguar XJ-S and our Jensen Interceptor cars.

Our four door cars are our Jaguar Mk2 and Jaguar XJ6 classic vehicles.

Luggage Space

Our classic cars have a varying amount of luggage space and we have tried to organise them here to help you assess them.

The Jaguar E Type has limited luggage space due to a small boot.  We have therefore provided a luggage rack for extra space and there is a large stowage area behind the rear seats (although storing bags here will restrict use of the roof).  This car can accommodate two small overnight bags in the boot, two small suitcases on the luggage rack and a suitcase in the stowage area.

The Alfa Romeo Spider has a medium sized boot and a large stowage area behind the seats.  The boot will take two medium sized suitcases or bags.

The Jaguar XJ-S has a large boot suitable for two or three medium sized suitcases.

Our Jensen Interceptor cars have large boots that will accommodate two large suitcases.

The Great Escape Morris Minor Traveller has a large boot that will take several suitcases and bags.

Our Jaguar Mk2 and XJ6 saloon cars both have large boots that will take several suitcases and bags.

Cars through the ages

Our cars vary in age from 1957 to to 1992 and cover the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s.

Our 1950s car is the 1957 Morris Minor Traveller.

Our car from the 1960s is the 1965 Jaguar Mk2 3.8 litre saloon.

The Great Escape Classic Car Hire vehicles from the 1970s are the 1974 Jaguar XJ6 saloon1973 Jaguar E Type convertible and two 1974 Jensen Interceptors.

Our Jaguar XJ-S was built in the 1980s in 1988.

Our Alfa Romeo Spider is a late model 1992 from the 1990s.

Engine Capacity

Our cars range from 1 litres to 7.2 litres.  They are all easy to drive and we include a full familiarisation run-through before you drive them.

Our 4 cylinder cars include the Morris Minor Traveller (1 litre) and Alfa Romeo Spider (2 litre).

Our straight 6 cylinder cars are our Jaguar Mk2 (3.8 litre) and Jaguar XJ6 (4.2 litre).

Our V8 8 cylinder cars are our Jensen Interceptors (7.2 litre).

Our V12 12 cylinder cars are our Jaguar E Type and Jaguar XJ-S which both feature a 5.3 litre engine.
